Effect of organic additives on regeneration of orchid hybrid (Dendrobium ‘Bertachong’ X Dendrobium ‘Blackspider X Sutiknoi’)

Dendrobium is a genus of orchids that has been widely planted, both domestically and internationally. Orchid conventional breeding generally done to produce new variants, but seeds from crosses are difficult germinate. To solve this problem, tissue culture long used germinate orchid seeds. This study aims obtain suitable medium composition for growing 'Bertachong' X 'Blackspider x Sutiknoi'. The were grown on two different media types, MS (Murashige-Skoog) VW (Vacin-Went), with the addition 2% sucrose or without organic extracts (either mungbean sprouts extract coconut water). Plantlets sub-cultured every 4 weeks 2 times same activated charcoal, followed by third subculture 1 mg.L−1 NAA (Naphthalene Acetic Acid) in each medium. best growth shown fast regeneration good seedling quality (multiple buds roots formed) was obtained 15% extract.
